hi, i'm ellie
As a passionate and experienced solo traveller, my aim is to empower women with well rounded, constructive and real advice on solo travel as a female, in destinations across the globe.

From a young age, I’ve loved to travel but that wasn’t always the case with going alone; in the early days it was out of circumstance and, I won’t lie, I wasn’t all that happy about it. I've been through every emotion and hesitation a girl can have. But it's through a range of experiences, that solo travel has changed me for the better.
My adventures have both contributed to and continue to shape who I am.
Going solo may not initially have been my preference, but it was my choice. I made the choice to take independent control of my life - where I wanted to go, what I wanted to see and experience and who I wanted to meet and be; not waiting for anyone to say 'yes, let's do this', other than myself.
Now, 30+ countries, countless flights and 12 years later, I’m fiercely protective of my solo travel time.
I absolutely love the head space it brings me, the opportunity to meet new people (or not), the freedom to choose what I want to do and when. Most of all, I love that it still challenges me on every level; physically, mentally and emotionally.

In June 2019, I packed up my life and belongings in London and decided to take a year off work to travel more.
There are places in the world that I've always wanted to spend more time in so, after saving and planning, I decided not to wait any longer.

Why did I start Find Her There?

I've never bought into the idea that we ‘find ourselves’ completely through travel – that would be doing a great injustice to the growth we experience during the highs and lows of everyday life – but I do believe we find parts of ourselves that surprise us, reflect on these and grow in new and different ways as a result.

Following many conversations about solo travel over the years, I’m never unsurprised by the percentage of people who don't feel comfortable with it - I can understand why. There are many reasons to think that solo travel ‘isn’t for you’; perceived loneliness, not knowing where to start, and safety are prominent among the masses and, of course, valid.

Once when I was looking for reviews about female solo travel to a particular country I got really frustrated by the negative narrative I was faced with. People were very quick to rant about their experience but very few of them provided considered and constructive advice that was helpful. It was then that I decided to start Find Her There.

Choosing a destination for solo female travel can be a daunting enough - your search results should empower, inform and prepare you, not scare your sense of adventure straight back into its comfort zone.
Find Her There opens the conversation around female solo travel; sharing real experiences, tips and advice from myself and other women I meet along the way.

I believe it's important to cultivate and promote constructive, well-rounded feedback to enable us all to manage and respond to situations we may encounter when travelling solo, to the best of our ability; to build on each other’s experiences and learn from them. This will pave the way for those who follow us and those who follow them to be as prepared and informed as possible.

Whether you're looking for a big trip or weekend getaway, travelling solo is one of the most empowering and enlightening things you can do. So do your research, listen to and build on the constructive advice, ignore the not so constructive advice (that's just not helpful to anyone) and go for it!

Wherever you want to go, when it comes to the female solo traveller, you'll find her there.
